Anticipated Impact

This policy allows, for the first time in decades, the detention and deportation of immigrants survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other serious crimes, without regard for the many protections Congress put in place for them. DHS is applying this policy to immigrants with "deferred action," a legal status that allows them to remain in the country, and to people with pending applications for visas specifically for crime victims.
