Summary
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has sued the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Elon Musk for failing to comply with federal record-keeping and transparency laws. CREW argued that by refusing to preserve records and fulfill records requests from the public, DOGE and its administrators have violated the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Federal Records Act (FRA). CREW has requested that the court enter an injunction requiring the defendants to properly maintain their records under the FRA and to fulfill their FOIA requests by no later than March 10, 2025.
