A group of U.S. states, along with the District of Columbia and the City and County of San Francisco, have sued the Trump administration to block Executive Order 14160, which denies birthright citizenship to children born in the U.S. whose parents are not citizens or lawful permanent residents. The plaintiffs argued that this order violates the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which establishes birthright citizenship.
