The Southern Education Foundation (SEF), an education nonprofit, has sued the Trump administration for eliminating the Equity Assistance Center-South (EAC-South), a federally funded center based at SEF that has worked to help school districts comply with civil rights laws. The plaintiff argues that EAC-South is mandated under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and its elimination is therefore unlawful. SEF brings claims under the Administrative Procedure Act, the Fifth Amendment, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Impoundment Control Act, and the First Amendment.
